Te Kura o Tākaro is a Decile 1 Full Primary for year 0—8 students. It is located in the Highbury Suburb of Palmerston North.
The school enjoys the support of loyal and established whānau and community. This sense of whanaungatanga provides a strong foundation for the school. ‘Nō ngā hau e whā ngā tamariki Māori o te kura nei.’ The strong presence of Tangata Pacifika in the community is drawn upon at times to support the school.
Tākaro offers educational choices in Te Reo Māori including Rumaki Reo (Total Immersion) and Reo Rua (Bilingual).
Tākaro has up to date Information and Communication Technology, Student resources, Computerised Library System and an emphasis on New Zealand texts in the library collection.
Tākaro students celebrate their culture and heritage while learning to appreciate that of others.
